Are you a Lua expert interested in teaching it?

Hello. I am a program officer at the Wikimedia Foundation.

I am looking for an expert in Lua programming in the context of wiki projects, who might be interested in teaching a full-day workshop in using Lua effectively on-wiki.

This would include teaching how to use some Lua features (including regular expressions), how to access the Mediawiki API from Lua, and concrete examples of modules and techniques achieving relatable, concrete results on-wiki.

If I find a candidate with a lot of experience and strong teaching skills (in English), I may fund this person’s travel and accommodation to teach such a workshop in Brazil.

Please express interest here, or refer people you think fit the description, so that they can express interest themselves.

I would be interested in a Lua workshop in Europe

Hi, I never claim to be an expert in anything, but I have a fair amount of experience in using Lua on the English Wikipedia and on Commons, and I maintain Module:WikidataIB.
I’m a retired teacher and educator, having taught programming since the late 1970s. I’ve taught Lua for WIkimedia at Google Code-In for the last two years, and I have a couple of workshops on using Lua coming up at Wikimania.
I’m also Lead Trainer for Wikimedia UK, so I have experience in delivering outreach events.

Excellent! I’ll write to you privately.

See you in Stockholm!
