Mozilla's Common Voice

Let’s talk about Project Common Voice , Mozilla’s effort to crowdsource a gigantic database of diverse voices to be used to make voice recognition better for everyone <3

Common Voice is part of Mozilla’s initiative to help teach machines how real people speak. In addition to the Common Voice dataset, they’re also building an open source speech recognition engine called Deep Speech. All licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.

What are your thoughts about the project? And could this be useful for any of the Wikimedia projects?

It is a very great effort! I hope it brings #VoiceTech to wikipedia and free software in general.
